Astro Photo Tracker with clockwork of kitchen timer from IKEA
thingiverse
This is a Camera Mount for Long Exposure Night Photography. A clock driving gear from an IKEA kitchen timer rotates the head of this mount with a fixed speed: one turn per 24 hours. This mount allows making shots with wide-angle lenses and exposure times up to 50 minutes. I'm not sure about telephoto because there is gearing wheel in the last reduction chain. Clockwork ----------- My timer is fast by 8 seconds per hour - I think it's a precise result for something like a kitchen tool! It is possible to adjust speed by changing the mass of the pendulum: - Decrease mass with a file to make the clock faster; - Increase mass with a smallest drop of glue or paint (you can use permanent marker) to slow it down. Also, I've completely removed the bell mechanism. It vibrates at the end of gear motion. Another way to disable it - just fix the hammer in high position. I did it by dropping superglue at first time. Bill of Materials ------------------- Excluding printable parts, you need: * 1x screw DIN931 M12 L80mm; * 1x hex nut DIN934 M12 (or wing nut); * 2x thrust bearings 7201B or analog (use only thrust bearings!); * x1 Screw DIN931(933) M8 50mm (for photohead); * M8 Wing nut (for photohead); * Assortment of crews DIN 7049(or 7981) 2.9mm for parts coupling. And sticks or tubes with 8mm diameter: * 1x of 164mm length; * 2x of 130mm length. Assembly Notes ----------------- This device has few compatible parts with this tracker. Big tension in axis bearings may cause spasmodic motions of camera. You should tighten the nut not very strong, but enough tough to avoid Luft.
