Astrario
grabcad
In contrast to the trend of machine-focused projects, a unique Astrario (potentially translating to Astrarium) catches the eye. This celestial depiction illustrates the relative positions of Venus and the Sun as seen from Earth's vantage point. A striking detail in the drawing on paper 92v of Manuscrip L sets it apart from other da Vinci drawings - not all teeth are drawn in a single gear, hinting at access to Dondi's Tractatus Astrarii, the only publication at that time featuring such annotations. This revelation supports the theory that da Vinci visited Padua, home of Dondi's built Astrarium. Further information on this fascinating mechanism is available in I ROBOT DI LEONARDO DA VINCI, authored by Mario Tadei and Massimiliano Lisa.
