ASSYRIAN FRIEZE OF ARCHERS STONEWALL 4 ARCHERS 3D model
cgtrader
This colorful frieze made of polychrome glazed brick displays a military unit, its members holding spears, bows, and arrows cases. Are they Darius I's elite royal guards (522-486 BC), who Herodotus referred to as "the Immortals," or do they depict an idealized image of the Persian people? The frieze is probably inspired by Babylonian brick reliefs, despite employing a distinct technique. This may be due to a legacy from the Middle Elamite Period, during which decorative glazing in siliceous brick first appeared. The Frieze of Archers features two mirrored lines of soldiers marching at a slow pace. Each archer holds his spear shaft between joined hands, and on his shoulders hang a bow with duck's head terminals and an arrow case.
