Assassins Katana
thingiverse
I designed a sword for my kid's Assassin costume. The design is based on concept art and was modified to suit my child's preferences. I created the model in Maya and added details using Zbrush. The sword is split into two halves, each divided into three pieces, with a channel running along its length to accommodate a bent piece of M4 threaded rod for added strength. Epoxy glue holds the parts together, while silver and acrylic paint give it a finished look. Printed on a Prusa i3 MK2 with 0.35mm layer thickness for speed, I could have used a finer layer but prefer the layered effect that resembles etching. To complete the costume, I crafted a leather sheath by drawing a template, cutting it out, punching holes, and sawing it to shape before painting it. I also printed an Assassin's Creed buckle and assembled the entire holster to hold the sword in place. Other printed items on the costume include raven badges, rivets, buckles, and rings, but these files only cover the sword design.
