ASR 33 teletype chad box
thingiverse
This is my recreation of the vintage ASR 33 teletype chad collection box, a project born out of discussions on cctalk and greenkeys lists about creating new ones. I'm pleased to say that, with just over 200 lines of code, this reproduction fits perfectly within a 200 x 200 x 200 build volume. The original ASR 33 teletype chad collection box was crafted from clear butyl plastic, which has a distinct faint smell reminiscent of old screwdriver handles. My recreation boasts the same flat/tapered bottom and accurately replicates the small moulding mark in the middle. For easier printing, consider sectioning this model into individual parts – top, back, bottom, and so on – and then gluing them together. If there's enough interest, I'll modify the OpenSCAD script to facilitate this approach. In the meantime, I hope you find this reproduction useful and appreciate your feedback if you decide to print it. Feel free to consult the accompanying 3-view diagram to grasp the placement and relation of symbols within the script.
