sketchfab
The Byzantine Emperor Manuel I issued a coin known as the Aspron trachy from AD 1143 to 1180. The electrum, or gold-silver alloy, coin was minted in Constantinople. On one side of the coin, inscriptions "I C - X C" are written on either side of Christ who sits on a throne with his right hand raised and holding Gospels. On the other side, Manuel and Mary stand together holding a patriarchal cross between them; the letter "M" is above while the letters "ϴ V" appear at the top right. This coin measures 31.5 to 32.5 millimeters in diameter and weighs 4.45 grams. It's identified with inventory number 106995, part of a collection owned by the Department of Coins and Medals at the National Museum in Warsaw. A three-dimensional model of this coin was created by Otto Bagi and Sergi Mañas Jolis.
