Asian-styled Cat Grass Planter

Asian-styled Cat Grass Planter

The younger cat my wife and I own is incredibly adorable, but she has a tendency to happily munch on leaves and stems of any plant she comes across - unless we provide her with regular fresh cat grass. After witnessing how much money I was about to spend on mediocre cat grass that sometimes goes stale, I realized it would be more cost-effective to purchase wheatgrass seeds and grow my own in temporary containers. Unfortunately, those small pans didn't turn out as planned, so... Perfect opportunity for 3D printing! These compact containers are designed to provide the exact size of cat grass container I desired, while also boasting a stylish appearance that's far more impressive than a flimsy one-use baking pan. My love for Asian design and architecture heavily influenced this creation, with all aspects carefully crafted in Sketchup. For reference, I plan to sprout approximately 1/4 cup of wheatgrass seeds to fill the larger container, leaving ample leftovers to fill the mini container as well. Lastly, the tray I designed was a direct result of my first print not being water-tight and requiring something more substantial to prevent carpet damage. If your initial print lacks a dense enough infill like mine did, adjust your settings accordingly and reprint the tray before proceeding with the rest of the project - or repurpose it as needed by sealing the interior with silicone or another suitable material.
