I've beefed up the nylon bearing to prevent the bobbin from popping out under increased tension. To achieve this, I've rotated the opening 10° towards the back and made the flexible part both solid and wider. Next, I'm considering increasing the radius, but for now, I want to see if these modifications work as expected before making further changes to the geometry. So far, so good - PLA isn't the ideal choice, but it's working fine with a touch of Super Lube to combat a nasty squeal caused by excessive friction. However, even under the increased tension of Navajo plying, the bearing is holding up well and preventing damage to the plastic.
