Asheville Class Motor Gunboat (PG-84 Class)
sketchfab
The Asheville-class gunboats were commissioned by the United States Navy as a direct response to the Cuban Missile Crisis. A small fleet of these ships was built, with each one named after the scenic city in western North Carolina that serves as the county seat for Buncombe County. Today, most of the Asheville-class gunboats have been given new life by being donated to museums, scheduled for refurbishment or sold to the Greek Navy, Turkish Navy, Colombian Navy, and South Korean Navy.
