Rotor Protector Design for Quadrotors We designed and tested a simple protector system to shield quadrotor motors from dirt and debris that may be encountered during outdoor flights after crashes, which caused significant damage due to motor ingestion of debris. Our goal was to create a reliable barrier between the rotor blades and the outside environment, reducing the risk of costly repairs or even complete failure of the quadrotor. To ensure effective protection without adding unnecessary weight, we chose to design the protector with a slightly smaller outer radius than the standard specification, utilizing our printer's capabilities. By setting the outer diameter at 100 mm, we were able to maintain optimal balance and structural integrity while accommodating our equipment constraints.
