As de Cástulo (Siglo II a.C.)
sketchfab
For several centuries, Cástulo minted its own bronze coinage, a testament to its economic growth and political independence from Carthaginians and Romans. Three denominations were struck: the largest, identified by the sphinx, was an as; the middle, featuring a bull under the moon, was valued at half that amount; and the smallest, bearing a wild boar, represented one quarter of the value. Although these coins had inherent economic worth, they also served to showcase and promote the unique identity of the city. Even after Roman conquest, Cástulo continued to assert its own symbols and script, affirming its distinctiveness.
