Aruco Marker Hat Clip
thingiverse
An aruco marker paired with Opentrack is a great way to get into head tracking for all sorts of simulators. I use this clip to mount an aruco marker to a baseball cap so I can look around hands free in DCS, IL-2, and Falcon BMS. The clip itself has a square surface that is 90x90mm angled back 30 degrees so that the clip is always at an angle to the camera. When I was making my setup I actually printed an aruco marker that was 80x80mm with a 20mm border all around (so 120mm across) and just glued it onto a piece of cardboard which I then taped/glued onto the clip. It's important to have a good sized white border around the aruco marker, at least 1-2cm, and larger markers should give better performance as well. A good guide to start getting headtracking figured out can be found here. He mainly talks about it in terms of DIY IR trackers but many things are the same for arcuo: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/34403-a-complete-guide-to-set-up-head-tracking-opentrack/ A few opentrack/aruco guidelines: https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/wiki/Aruco-tracker
