Artist Trading Card (ATC) Snap Frames
thingiverse
Developed from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3771369 these snap-together frames come in 7 varieties, all forming a standard sized ATC when snapped together - specifically 2.5"x3.5". ### Three-Part Frames These work like a deep picture frame. First take the frame, then drop in a piece of acetate to represent glass, followed by the insert and complete with your decorated back. The 4mm thick ones provide 1.5mm working depth for relatively flat designs that you simply wish to frame. The 8mm thick ones offer 5.5mm of working depth for dimensional pieces. Both thicknesses are available as a plain frame or as a "specimen" frame featuring a small area for a caption, title or similar. For each frame three prints are required: a frame, an insert and a back. The same back is used for all but the "ATC Slide". For example, if you want the 8mm deep specimen frame, print 1x ATCSnapSpecimenFrame8mm.stl, 1x ATCSnapSpecimenInsert8mm.stl and 1x ATCSnapBack.stl. ### Two-Part Frames These work in a similar way to the three part frames but there is no insert. The back simply snaps directly into the frame, and the work is open when finished (no "glass"). As above they are available in both plain and "specimen" types but only in a standard 4mm depth. Again for each frame it is necessary to print two parts: the frame and the back. ### ATC Slide Similar to the two part specimen frame, this has a small closed area for a title or caption and a large clear window with a small recess in which to mount a decorated piece of acetate (54mm x 64mm). Again two prints are required - 1x ATCSlideFront.stl and 1x ATCSlideBack.stl. Please Note Whilst these frames have been designed to be a snap fit for longevity, once decorated it would be advisable to secure them permanently with a small drop of Cyanoacrylate (super-glue) at each corner of the back.
