Addressing the RSP-500-24 MW PSU in the quest of making this printer more silent: I have tried replacing the original 4020 fan (NBM 04020VA-12P-BA) with Sunon (MF40201VX-1000U-A99) alternative, which *should* have reduced the noise from 35dB to 25dB, didn't seem like it. From that, I gave up on the idea of keeping everything inside of the printer case, and decided to go straight to silent 120mm fan (since the grating on the cover has 120mm width). I picked Noctua NF-S12A FLX (NF-S12A ULN did not have enough power for me to feel comfortable about it). If you feel adventurous, you can use noise reduction cable that comes with the fan to basically turn the FLX into ULN version, technically, the ULN should have superior CFM/static pressure to the original 4020. I removed the 4020 fan from the PSU, and permanently removed its lid. Then I designed a cover for the hole after the 4020 and placed 10mm foam around the edges on the cover, so that the air intake *has to* go through the PSU components. I have the fan currently plugged through buck converter in the PSU outputs so that it is on permanently (it is now quiet enough for it to not matter all that much). I used the original fan connector for a LED that points on the table next to the printer as an indication "something's wrong", but the PSU does not care if something is connected. The LED comes occasionally on depending on ambient temp (2.7V), but never goes in the maximum light (12V), so the fan is definitely doing its job sufficiently. The fan is covered by a shroud/box (I tried three different designs, the classic cocentric circles were a couple dB quieter according to a free app on my shitty phone), if you don't care, you can use a shroud from this thing https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2802474. The fan is attached with original Noctua screws to the case cover (with washers), the grating fits the holes perfectly. The shroud box is attached with another set of the same screws I had lying around. Note that you have to raise your printer at least 50mm as opposed to original 10mm. When I had the distance to the table from bottom plate of the printer at 40mm, the fan was too suffocated to keep the PSU at "no light" state. I use fairly high wobble feet, so it is not particularly an issue, just keep in mind it is something you have to do for this to work. The noise is now: 35dB ambient 50dB extruders unplugged 60dB with extruders 100% 75dB with extruders before change
