Have been wanting to remove the spool holder from the top of my X1 for a while, but still retain the stock filament runout sensor. I've also had good success with reverse bowden's on other printers, just look neat and help to improve the filament path. Main restriction was trying to keep the filament moving through the sensor smoothly, as any side load puts tension on the filament and hurts quality (a large reason was a stock the sensor can adversely affect print quality!). Also wanted to be able to put my filament spools into a dry box to help keep moisture out, so really needed to come up with something to guide the filament in properly. Ended up with the final design, that utilises two unflanged bearings, and an M5 nut and bolt from the stock spool holder to guide the filament into the sensor. Then the bowden tube runs direct to the idler arm (recommend trying out my idler arm design also, as it's been recently adjusted to work better with the reverse bowden - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4371062 bracket also bolts into the stock T-nuts on the frame used for the stock holder also. Harware required; <UL><li>1x M5x20mm - taken from Stock spool holder</li> <li>1x M5 Nut - taken from stock spool holder</li> <li>2x 5x10x4 Bearings (no flange) - taken from stock spool holder</li> <li>1x M3x20mm Machine Screw</li> <li>1x M3 Nut</li> <li>~600mm of bowden tube</li></ul> NOTE - Don't do up the M5 bolt too tight, you want the bearings to spin freely still. Printing wise, designed to be printed without need for supports. Recommend PLA or PETG.
