I've crafted this custom cooling fan mount to significantly lower the extruder motor's temperature. At print times exceeding an hour, the stepper motor becomes extremely hot due to its close proximity to the Hotend. To mitigate this issue, I reduced the temperature by a substantial 30 degrees Celsius, from 55 degrees to a much more manageable 25 degrees. When stepper motors overheat, they can start losing steps, which is a serious problem in 3D printing. To tackle this challenge, I deployed a high-performance 24-volt fan measuring 40x40mm and repurposed the energy from the existing component cooling fan to power it.
