Artillery Sidewinder SW-X1 Spool Holder
prusaprinters

I was height challenged on the shelving I mounted my side winder on (stock spool holder was too tall), and I didn't like having to use a tool to to adjust if for different spool sizes. So I designed this....

This is meant to feed in an over the top style so you have a filament path inline with the Z axis down to the extruder. The amount of mounting holes I added is overkill- mostly for flexibility in mounting, so choose which works best for you. Uses (2) standard skateboard bearings on the rod, and may need longer M5 screws and/or more T-nuts depending on how you attach.

And yes, you lose a tiny bit of Z height, but was worth it for me given the ease of changing spools and the height clearance I had to work with.

Enjoy!

Print instructions

I printed in PLA at 25% gyroid infill, 0.2mm layers and 3 perimeters.
