A popular modification for the Sidewinder X1 involves replacing the standard touchscreen with a more versatile LCD display that unlocks additional firmware capabilities. However, most LCDs come with short cables that hinder access to the board on the opposite side, resulting in a gaping hole that invites dust and debris into the machine. To remedy this issue, a protective cover can be snapped into place, effectively sealing off the gap while also serving as an aesthetic upgrade and allowing for limited customization options. Unfortunately, this solution won't work with older Sidewinder models, such as the V4, due to its larger screen opening. Nevertheless, users can leverage software like MatterControl to personalize their display by adding custom logos or text. For optimal results, I recommend setting the extrusion distance to 3mm.
