Artificial Sunrise Lamp
thingiverse
For an electrical engineering project, a group decided to create a sunrise simulating lamp for waking up in dark Ottawa mornings. The lamp plugs into a wall timer and features modular gear reducers designed by the team. Similar lamps are available but usually cost $200; this group spent around $70 on their build, with potential to reduce costs further with spare parts. A video of the project can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fHnanEdq4w, and a detailed assembly process is showcased through pictures and wiring diagrams. The group made some changes from the given circuit diagram, including using a dimmer instead of resistors to control brightness.
