Artifact Scan
sketchfab
Kids dug up a fascinating artifact and I showed them how photogrammetry works by scanning 165 photos run through meshroom. The artifact was slightly shiny, so I sprayed on a solution to make it matte for scanning purposes. I took RAW photos, converted them to DNGs, white-balanced and contrast-processed them in Bridge, then saved the results as tiffs. With default meshroom settings, I captured a pretty decent scan, but what's still missing is any mesh cleanup, decimation, or applying original color values to the texture. Removing the mason jar and C47(clothespin) would be a good start, followed by reconstructing the covered section. Only then can we estimate the rest of the broken plate with confidence.
