Articulating Laptop Phone Stand
thingiverse
I've created this design because I was frustrated with not finding any suitable options that would allow me to print a solution for myself. Every time I've tried to use my phone while working on my laptop in non-traditional spaces, I've gotten annoyed with trying to find a place to position it securely. This innovative stand eliminates the need for me to worry about that hassle anymore. With its versatile design, it tilts up and down as well as left and right, giving me the flexibility I crave. As of now, rotation is not a part of my design concept, but I'm keeping it in mind for future updates. The hanging attachment for the laptop section is intentionally oversized to allow space for soft adhesive-backed feet that can be placed inside for added protection against scratching the device's screen. Given my Sony VAIO flip 15 laptop has a 9mm thick display, and the design works seamlessly with a thinner Asus Vivotab 11.6, it should accommodate various laptop sizes efficiently. If not, I'll post separate backs tailored to different dimensions as needed. The interchangeable backpiece enables me to easily redesign this single component. Although the idea of making it mechanically adjustable is on my radar for future updates, my creative cycle often leads me to start new projects. Here are the necessary assembly and usage guidelines: Printing it with supports at 10% infill density and a .2mm layer height produced excellent results, albeit requiring a slight touch-up after removal. To guarantee its structural integrity, I applied acetone to the ABS plastic after printing due to its thin material. Assembly calls for two 3mm x 25mm screws paired with wing-nuts; feel free to substitute those according to your print's requirements. Designated to maintain parallel alignment with the screen, the front part adjusts slightly downward while also pivoting left and right to mitigate glare issues.
