I think about reusing the octopus ball-jointing system for a long time. I need something to scare my cat visiting my neighbor at my secondary residence because she's scared of cats. Hopefully, I notice that may cat is scared by snake-like objects. Got a solution - just need a snake head, Thingiverse can handle this! The first cat's reaction was good... I hope my neighbor isn't afraid of snakes too! The segment has been remade to improve its flexibility. Added on September 20th, 2018: serpent-tete-short.obj, a shorter and nicer version of the head; serpent-bifurcation-4-5.obj, a bifurcation that allows making multi-headed monsters with reduced ball size for biological credibility; segment-rond.obj, a segment without a flat bottom. Print Settings: Printer: OverLord Pro Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 30% Notes: I used a scale of 228% for the tail, 507% for the biggest segment, and 7% steps. The head scale is 520%, which made clipping easier but still prone to breaking. Many thanks to glue! Possible Enhancements: The Head: Making the head was difficult, with some trouble including unwanted cavities (behind the eyes) and a non-separated tongue that's hard to print and easy to break. The Tail: A version without a bottom and no barrier around the ball would allow for more positions. This could be nice too! The Monster Option: Adding segments for multi-headed and/or multi-tailed monsters is also in my projects, but don't expect it soon!
