Arthur's Stone near Dorstone, Herefordshire, United Kingdom is home to a Neolithic Burial chamber and entrance passageway that was once covered by a long mound. Built to bury the dead over 5000 years ago, this type of monument showcases human ingenuity in the face of mortality. The capstone, although now broken, would have weighed an astonishing 25 tons, measuring up to 5.7 meters in length, 3.7 meters in width, and a substantial 0.6 meters in thickness. A highly detailed model was created from 1242 handheld photographs taken with a Canon Powershot G15 camera running an intervalometer script under CHDK. This innovative setup allowed for automatic focusing and taking photos at a rate of 18-24 per minute, giving photographers precise control over exposure settings to capture intricate details in darker areas. Located at Grid Reference: SO 31887 43125, Arthur's Stone was photographed on July 16, 2016, and the model was built just three days later on July 19, 2016. The creation of this stunning model was made possible using Agisoft Photoscan (Standard) 1.2.5 software.
