Platonic Solid A Platonic solid is a three-dimensional shape where all sides are equal and all angles are right angles. There are five types of Platonic solids, each with its own unique characteristics. 1. Tetrahedron: A tetrahedron has four triangular faces that meet at their edges, forming a pyramid-like shape. 2. Cube (Hexahedron): A cube has six square faces that connect to form a solid box. 3. Octahedron: An octahedron has eight triangular faces that surround a central point. 4. Dodecahedron: A dodecahedron has twelve pentagonal faces that fit together like a puzzle piece. 5. Icosahedron: An icosahedron has twenty triangular faces that meet at their edges, forming a spherical shape. Each of these solids is named after the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, who first described them in his book "Timaeus."
