Arrow Cutting Jig
thingiverse
I had to shorten some arrows to fit and my friends with arrow saws were nowhere to be found. I've already cut many CF cross country ski poles on my small band saw, so I figured I'd give it a try on arrows as well. Online searches are full of warnings about only using abrasive cutoff wheels, but I included a photo of the raw cut from my band saw for reference. I'd love to see a similar photo of a clean cut made with a dedicated arrow saw. This jig is specifically designed for the T-slot on my band saw and comes with an OpenScad model that you can modify to suit your needs. When creating it, I deliberately left some room for error by making the arrow hole tight, then later drilling it out so that the arrow can be inserted and rotated freely. To make a cut, simply place the arrow in the jig and adjust it until it reaches the proper length. Then, move the jig just enough to allow the blade to cut through the arrow wall. Finally, rotate the arrow to complete the cut.
