Arrma Granite bumper spring
thingiverse
I recently acquired an Arrma Granite bumper spring and was unsure if it would fit other models. After breaking my front bumper spring, I decided to try making a better one instead of buying a factory replacement that reviewers warned might be low-quality. The 3D printed version has experienced failures due to high-impact hits, but I've found printing a new one is easier than ordering one from the manufacturer. My attempts with nylon resulted in breakage at the lamination layers, and I suspect my print temperature may have been too low. Printing with PC material yielded a spring with similar flexibility to the original bumper. Unfortunately, these springs tend to snap when they break. In contrast, TPU produced a test print that was excessively flexible. I'm currently redesigning a thicker version and will share updates soon. To achieve better results, use high perimeter settings to create a solid part and supports from the build plate only.
