I had an ARRIS SURFboard SB6183 cable modem that constantly lost connection and required power cycling to resolve the issue. To address this problem, I used a Dremel tool to modify the case and installed a small fan on it, effectively solving the issue. Upgrading to a SB8200 (also known as CM8200) presented an opportunity to design a solution that not only resolved the connection issues but also looked more visually appealing. Therefore, I designed this custom part to replace the side of the case, enabling the mounting of a PC fan on the modem. To secure it in place, M3x8 screws were used. This custom piece fits multiple modems with similar designs, including the SB6121, making it a versatile solution. However, it's worth noting that it does not fit my original SB6183 due to its unique shape and placement of the heatsink. To power this custom part, I tapped into 12V power from the other side of the board. On June 21, 2018, an update was made to improve the design by correcting an error in the feet that didn't line up properly. Additionally, a 120mm version was added to provide more options for users.
