It's common knowledge that the SB8200 and CM8200 tend to run hot. To avoid constant reboots without forced airflow, a reboot was required every few days. A fan mount made from quick ties worked well for years, but it wasn't exactly aesthetically pleasing. That's why I decided to create a new mount that could hold a 60mm fan and look good while doing so. This design holds a standard 60mm computer or CPU fan. These fans are typically 60x60x10mm in size and usually run on 12V power. They're variable speed fans, capable of running at lower DC voltages if needed. I've found that 5V is quiet enough to avoid being a nuisance, and 5V power supplies are easily accessible. An old cell phone charger was repurposed and directly wired to the fan without connecting the yellow/fan speed wire since it's not necessary. The housing fits into the modem via press fit and should be inserted so that the output faces the modem. There's only one correct way to do this, and it's done on the side without the screw post mounts (the left side when looking at the front panel). A variant for 80mm fans is also available, requiring installation at a 45-degree angle. The corners will stick out slightly due to the shape of these fans. I haven't tested any 80mm fans in this setup, so please let me know if the depth is correct.
