This is a child lock designed to be easily attached using 3M Command strips to the outside of a cupboard. It can be printed in one piece, with integrated hinges that make it easy to install. Note photos are from an earlier model, without the curved cam arm that locks the barrier arm in place. The body of the lock is specifically designed to be attached to the outside of the cupboard, and two hinged arms work together to create a secure locking mechanism. The barrier arm reaches around to obstruct the door opening, while the cam arm on the outside of this arm locks the barrier arm in place when closed. * This design is still experimental, and 3D printing is not a reliable manufacturing process. It's essential to test it thoroughly before relying on it. * This lock is intended to protect cupboards that children would find particularly tempting to access, but it should not be used to safeguard potentially hazardous areas. A child hanging from the door may still manage to open the cupboard by exerting enough force... * To ensure optimal performance, place this lock on the side of the door near the handle, rather than on the hinge side. Keeping it close to the handle reduces the amount of leverage that can be applied. * Position the lock at a height that is out of your child's reach. The locking mechanism prevents the door from being opened by pulling elsewhere. * For cupboards with center-opening doors, this design may not be suitable. Consider using a different type of child lock, such as one installed through the handles. EDIT: To improve reliability and durability, I have increased hinge tolerances and strengthened the cam arm slightly - several earlier models had breakages.
