Armored cruiser Gueydon (1899) 1/700
thingiverse
Gueydon was a Gueydon-class armored cruiser launched in 1899. The class was designed by the naval engineer Emile Bertin for the french navy to fit the "Jeune Ecole" commerce-raiding strategy, as a smaller and cheaper version of the Jeanne D'Arc cruiser. As such, this design was considered better than the previous french cruisers, although it was lightly armed compared to other navies contemporary designs. Gueydon had two sister ships, Montcalm and Dupetit-Thouars, which all participated in the first world war, Dupetit-Thouars being sunk by a U-boot in 1918. I designed this model for 1/700 scale, never tried to printing it yet. As usual with my models, I do not represent the railings or the top of the masts, as I would rather use photo-etched parts and brass rods to make them. I also do not include some of the smallest details for the same reason. Generic lifeboats can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5211979
