The Arles Amphitheater is a Roman arena situated in the southern French city of Arles. Two-tiered, it stands out as the most popular tourist destination from the city that flourished during Ancient Rome's time. The towers projecting from the top were added during the Middle Ages. Built in 90 AD, the amphitheater accommodated over 20,000 spectators for chariot races and intense hand-to-hand combat events. Currently, it attracts smaller crowds for bullfighting during the Feria d'Arles as well as outdoor performances like plays and concerts during the summer months.
