Arilia the Grothen Queen.

The Guardians of Azurite It has been thousands of years since the catastrophic event that ravaged Old Earth, courtesy of Asteroid Apophis. The celestial body's unpredictable course resulted in a devastating impact, leaving humanity with mere moments to comprehend its fate. Fragments of the planet, each carrying distinct populations, were scattered throughout the solar system. The Grothen species emerged from the cluster flung furthest away from Old Earth's location on their barren rock. Harsh conditions forced them to adapt, yielding a unique species. Dr. Khan Grothen, a brilliant scientist, was tasked with saving the dwindling population by any means necessary. Khan and his team discovered that the Azurite element held immense energy potential. They experimented with injecting crushed Azurite powder mixed with an aggressive strain of swine flu into their subjects' spinal columns. The majority perished in agony, but those with the recessive blue eyes gene survived the transformation, undergoing a profound change. Arilia, the first to endure this metamorphosis, became the Grothen Queen. Her subjects began growing Azurite crystalline structures from their bones, piercing through their skin and exposing the vibrant crystal. Their skin turned purple, and they lost their hair, sense of taste, sight, and eventually even the ability to eat and breathe as the crystalline structures consumed them. Their human minds were replaced by an instinctual urge to guard the Azurite Crystals, which now powered their bodies. Traditional senses gave way to advanced echolocation, telecommunication, and in some Grothen, the ability to control the phase of Azurite within themselves. Their bodies became virtually indestructible, with some regarding them as immortals or gods. However, they can be shattered with sufficient kinetic energy, and it is believed that their power originates from the Azurite, necessitating proximity to crystal deposits to maintain their vitality. Those who fail to do so will succumb to a hibernation-like state. The Grothen Queen's Design Ideology This design was created specifically for the Pinshape character design competition. I began by crafting a backstory for Print and became enthralled with it, eventually settling on creating this character first: Arilia, the Grothen Queen. I aim to create at least one 3D printable model from each of the seven new races in this series, affectionately known as the Terra Fall series. Programs Used Character design: Z-Brush 47R Retouching renderings: Photoshop Cs6 We Printed Arilia Printer: My best friend's Little RP with a 3000 lumen HD Ben Q projector as its UV light source. Quality: 35 mic layer height Exposure time: 2.7 seconds per layer Print time: 3h 27m Print height: 54.97mm Properties: Print size: >55mm (h) Layer height: 35-50mic Model formats: Ready to print single part (with supports) OR as 4 individual parts (without supports), OR as a single assembled model (without supports). Design Optimizations The design is optimized for SLA/DLP printing and can be printed with Liquid 3D industrial blend resin. The model is hollow to reduce cost and peel force, and the base is ventilated to minimize cupping and assist with drainage. Stay tuned for the next installment of the Terra Fall story and more characters. We hope you enjoy Arilia! Have fun printing.
