My lawn mower cap cracked, with the top separating completely from the threaded portion. Initially, I tried gluing it in place, but unfortunately, that solution did not hold up. My next attempt was to use heat welding to join the parts together and add metal inserts for added reinforcement. This approach proved to be a significant improvement over the glue, as the cap remained usable, but I still encountered issues with the crack: the two pieces continued to separate at the weakest point. Although the metal inserts helped keep them in place, I found it frustrating that the crack persisted. Last week, I finally opted for a generic replacement from Home Depot, which unfortunately did not fit properly due to incorrect sizing. Feeling determined, I took matters into my own hands and created a custom cap using Fusion 360, printed it out, and was pleased enough with the result to decorate it and proudly display it here.
