The European Space Agency's workhorse rocket, Ariane 5 ECA, soars into the sky, its five powerful solid boosters firing simultaneously to propel it upward at a blistering pace of 2 kilometers per second. At an altitude of 180 kilometers, the boosters are jettisoned, and the main liquid-fueled Vulcain engine takes over, pushing the rocket ever higher until it reaches orbit.
