Alex Govan launched The Hozier Engineering Company in 1899 at its state-of-the-art facility where the initial Argyll Voiturette rolled off the assembly line - a replica of the then-popular Renault, it powered with a robust 2 3/4 hp de Dion engine and employed advanced shaft-drive technology. For the 1901 models, a significant upgrade to the engine output took place, boasting an impressive 5 hp capacity. By 1902, car production reached new heights as engines now yielded 8 hp - marking another pivotal milestone in The Hozier Engineering Company's history. Just a few years later, a game-changing innovation emerged: the introduction of twin-cylinder engines with distinctive radiator tubes seamlessly integrated into the sides of the hood, delivering an even more potent 10 hp. Building on its success, the company unveiled a series of pioneering front-radiator cars fueled by powerful Aster engines in 1904 - these featured 10 hp engines producing a substantial 1985 cc; larger engines boasted capacities of 3054 cc, 3686 cc, and an impressive 4849 cc.
