Led by Jason, they sailed to Colchis in search of the legendary Golden Fleece prior to the Trojan War. Their ship, named Argo after its skilled builder, was their iconic vessel and a key factor in defining them. At times referred to as Minyans, they derived their name from a prehistoric tribe native to the region.
