This 3D model originated from Sketchup 8 and has since been converted to various other 3D formats. Native format is .skp with a corresponding 3ds Max scene utilizing 2016 version of 3ds Max, rendered using Vray 3.00. The OBERLÄNDER represents a basic type of the Middle Rhine ship, widely used between 15th and 18th centuries to travel along the distance spanning Mainz and Cologne. Its shape is tailored to the unique circumstances encountered on this specific path and waterway. Floor plan displays the shape of a trapezoid, featuring maximum width at the vessel's bottom and decreasing towards the rear end, measuring approximately 1.5 to 2 times the width of the bow. The flat floor surface begins to slope upwards towards the stern, forming a massive hut pointed towards a height of 6-7 m, before suddenly dropping off sharply to the deck level. Meanwhile, the deck remains uniform in width from bow to stern and lies completely flat against the forward section. Overall appearance suggests an air of heaviness; however, this illusion belies its true nature, as top and bottom create an angle measuring up to 10 degrees. The 6-7 m tall mast pole is utilized exclusively for towing purposes. The Oberlander's likely viability exceeded 100 - 120 tons in capacity. A flush-fitted round window blends seamlessly with the uppermost strake, thus negating the need for any additional transitional board sections. The vessel features two gangways situated roughly midway along its structure; these were likely utilized as platforms by passengers aboard the ship.
