Argentinosaurus huinculensis (gr. "Argentine reptile from Plaza Huincul") is the only known species of the extinct Argentinosaurus genus of titanosaurian sauropod dinosaur that lived in the mid-Cretaceous period, between 97 and 93.5 million years ago, in the Cenomanian,1 in what is now South America. It is one of the largest land animals known today. But known remains are scarce, so its body dimensions cannot be accurately estimated. Among the different estimates proposed, the average would be 33 meters in length and 67 tons in weight,23 which places it among the largest dinosaurs known.
