Ares 3 Hab

Ares 3 Hab

This is my recreation of the Hab for the Ares 3 mission as described by Andy Weir in his compelling novel, The Martian. The Hab serves as the primary living space for a team of about six astronauts on Mars for a month or two, or for one astronaut enduring an extended stay. I meticulously modeled the Hab at actual size (92 square feet of floor space), incorporating every detail with precision. The modeled components include three airlocks (each measuring a meter across inside), two O2 tanks, oxygenator, water reclaimer, communications dish (not present during Watney's stay on Mars), antennae array (modeled intact and fully functional), and the Hab itself. The Hab dome is comprised of canvas reinforced with carbon fibers, supported by poles that form its basic shape but are largely sustained by the pressure of the atmosphere inside the Hab. The floor is made from a rigid, folding material designed to withstand the harsh Martian environment. If you catch any details I've omitted or manipulated for the sake of accuracy, please share them with me! You can also download the model and modify it according to your specifications.
