Area of a Parallelogram
cults3d
Prove to yourself that the area of a parallelogram is indeed the product of its base times its height. To get started, check out this engaging video overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC8gYuBQaK4 You'll find three puzzle sets waiting for you. Each set can be rearranged to form the same rectangle and transformed into different parallelograms with identical areas. Teachers, encourage your students to follow the Exploration Guide (available as a PDF file). This guide will challenge them to think mathematically and explore some thought-provoking questions. This manipulative aligns with the following Common Core standards: 3.MD.5, 3MD.8, and 4.MD.3. For those interested in creating their own designs, I've included the source files (SketchUp) within a convenient zip archive.
With this file you will be able to print Area of a Parallelogram with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Area of a Parallelogram.
