The servos used in this design are Tower Pro Micro Servo 9g SG90s. A total of four arms, each made up of axis servo connected directly to axis servo for a combined length of 100mm, hold everything together. Power supply comes from 4 x 1.5V batteries specifically designed for use with the servos. I determined that these specific components were the right choice through a careful process known as designing. First, there was a clear set of requirements to be met. Using PLA 3MM filament was a deliberate decision based on its many desirable properties, especially its relatively low weight and ease of workability. The pieces have a thickness of exactly 4mm - while this is a completely adequate size for this particular project, a thinner 3.5 mm option may prove to be even more effective in some situations.
