This is a 3D model of an Arduino clone of the Mega 2560 microcontroller board. I needed one for an enclosure design, but couldn't find one that had precise dimensions for the mounting holes. Despite no officially-diagnosed OCD, my brain felt it necessary to lay out the full details of each component on the board.  I made my own model using Autodesk Fusion 360. Each component is a separate solid body to facilitate easier placement on the board, as well as face and body colors and textures. The board design was taken from a Rexqualis R3 version of the Mega 2560 board. Components were measured for size and placement by hand, using calibrated calipers. However, due to their hand-measured nature, they may be slightly out of position by a tiny bit. I also have an Elegoo R3 version of the Mega 2560, and the layouts appear nearly-identical to each other. I imagine there are other-branded boards which also have very similar layouts. Note: These boards do differ a bit from the official Arduino models.I've provided various versions of 3D models to put to all of your various uses. STL, 3MF, STEP, and a fully-detailed and parametric version of the Fusion 360 file are available to download. The Fusion 360 file is relatively-organized, with folders of solid bodies for each component on the board, and grouped items on the timeline to try and keep it more compact. Hover over timeline groups to see their names and find items you wish to edit. This model was produced using Autodesk Fusion 360. Nearly every component is comprised of one or more sketches and extrusions, and maybe a few patterns and construction planes. All modeling techniques are foundational to 3D modeling and primarily require time and patience to complete. This model could be utilized as part of an ongoing design project involving the Mega 2560 microcontroller. Robotics and electronics instructors may provide this as a reference model to students building enclosures or test stands, as well as robotics projects. If desired, it could even be utilized as a basic example of how Fusion 360 can be utilized to model real-life objects based on accurate measurements. As this model is meant to be utilized within another project, rather than standalone, it is recommended to utilize Fusion 360 or another 3D modeling software that can read Fusion 360 or STEP files to take full advantage of the model's precision. STL and 3MF files are only provided for reference or in case someone really feels like 3D printing a model of the board.Originally published on Thingiverse by me, republished on Printables.
