Arduino Mega 2560 Base
thingiverse
This Thing holds a circuit board for an Arduino Mega 2560 in place while protecting its contacts from shorting out at the bench. I designed it to also serve as a holder for other circuit boards, ensuring they stay secure during project development. Once all components are working together smoothly, attaching these bases to a project frame using mounting screws through the base frame is a straightforward process. Detaching them for further debugging is just as easy. The holes in this base are 3 mm deep. The diameter of each post hole is 2.5 mm, which allows M2.5 screws, SAE #2-56 screws, or #4 sheetmetal screws to self-tap threads and hold securely without the need for additional tools. However, headers on the Arduino Mega are too close together for the heads of #4 sheetmetal screws. This project was created using my Customizable Thing: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1370889. This design tool allows you to create custom arrangements with up to 10 support posts, making it versatile enough to suit a variety of circuit board needs. For instance, designing a base that holds two circuit boards is achievable with this customizable platform. For those who need a more standard base for their circuit boards with mounting holes at the corners of a rectangle, my "Base with Four Posts" Customizable Thing (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1375390) would be simpler to use.
