Arduino-Driven Automatic Fish Feeder

Arduino-Driven Automatic Fish Feeder

thingiverse

Built to house an Arduino Uno board, a 9g micro servo, and enough fine grain fish food for one month to be dispensed using an auger, this automated fish feeder can feed fish multiple times a day at varying amounts depending on how you program the Arduino code. Its rugged construction allows modifications such as drilling, sanding, and shaving to accommodate different sized servos or other printing imperfections. Designed specifically to hang from an aquaponics planter and distribute food to the fish below. See version 1 here: http://helioslabs.blogspot.com/2014/12/3d-printed-auto-fish-feeder.html. The code remains the same and is easily modifiable. I have uploaded the files I used before exporting as .stl files and importing into MakerBot's software to SketchUp's 3D Warehouse. Another feeder on Thingiverse served as the starting point for this project, thanks to a kind sharer! Instructions This is version two. Check out version one here: http://helioslabs.blogspot.com/2014/12/3d-printed-auto-fish-feeder.html. Version one was very flimsy and needed heavy modification (sanding, cutting, gluing of all parts). Although it worked, it barely functioned. This new design's auger is better suited for pushing out fine grain fish food and the thicker construction made installing 2mm screws easy. Using MakerBot's Replicator 2 at low resolution produced decent results, but for example, the t-slots for the arms had to be carefully forced in. The auger also needed a little modification to fit with the servo.
