ArduBigBOY - Arduboy compatible 8-bit handheld Arduino game platform
thingiverse
ArduBigBOY is a massive Arduboy compatible game platform for those who wear their big boy pants with pride. It packs a larger 2.42" OLED screen and a built-in SPI flash IC, making it possible to carry hundreds of games in your pocket without having to re-program the MCU from another device. Check out https://arduboy.com/ for more information. Arduboy is a miniature 8-bit game platform that makes learning, sharing, and playing open source games online a breeze. Create a game and take it on the go! In addition to its larger OLED screen and built-in SPI flash IC, the ArduBigBOY also features a bigger 700mAh lithium-ion cell, a hardware mute switch, and an expansion header that exposes almost every pin of the ATmega32U4 IC. This opens up future expansion options like linking two Arduboys together via serial UART connection, connecting external sensors and devices through i2c or SPI, connecting to an external speaker, or attaching an external controller. The ArduBigBOY uses a schematic that's as close as possible to the original Arduboy to ensure binary compatibility with its extensive list of existing games. However, it does use the SSD1309 controller for its 2.42" OLED screen instead of the SSD1306 controller used by the original 1.3" OLED. This means binaries need to be patched before being uploaded, but a script is available to do this. This case was designed using Fusion 360 and has been fit/function tested with real hardware in its second iteration.
