This is a decorative fragment featuring a plant pattern. An architrave is essentially a horizontal beam that rests on top of column capitals. It's a fundamental element in classical architecture. The term can also be applied to the vertical members and moldings surrounding doors or windows, forming a frame around them. In general, an architrave refers to the style of moldings framing the tops of doors, windows, or other rectangular openings, with horizontal "head" casings extending across the top of vertical side casings where they meet. This creates a butt joint, as opposed to a miter joint. The term has also been used in academic writing to denote the core part of something, such as a speech, thought, or reasoning, or the basis upon which an idea is built.
