Architectural Crest, Grant Park, Chicago
thingiverse
During my artist residency at the Innovation Lab, I conducted a series of 3D scanning workshops using 123D Catch over one month. Last weekend, I led a group through an "architectural tour" of Chicago's Loop area. We visited the Fisher Building and Old Colony Building before heading to the park. Participants scanned public art pieces and local scenery. One standout scan was of a crest on an object; its detail was impressive. I used source files to create a mesh in Blender, extruding the wireframe into a manifold shape, then refining it further with Netfabb.
