Archimedes screw Pump
grabcad
The Archimedean screw, or screwpump, is a historical water transferring machine that pumps water from low-lying sources into irrigation ditches. It works by rotating a spiral surface within a pipe. Often credited to Archimedes during his time in Egypt, its origins might actually date back to Assyria 350 years prior. This could be due to Greek engineers introducing the apparatus during Archimedes' lifetime, as it was unknown to Greeks before Hellenistic times.
