Archimedes Screw for Marble Run
thingiverse
These are some preliminary designs for an Archimedes Screw that can lift a marble from bottom to top. It has undergone several iterations to get to this point and there is still much room for improvement moving forward. I designed it with geared motors in mind, which were the only ones available at the time, and I am using them with 1/2" steel bearings. As you can see from the photo, the motor will slide into place sideways at the bottom where the rectangular opening has been cut out, and the archimedes screw is brought down from the top. The screw has a hole at the bottom that fits the geared motors perfectly. For best results, print the Archimedes Screw upside down so that the hole for the geared motor is on top. I will post new models as the design improves, but I wanted to share this initial design with you now.
