Archimedes Screw for Marble Run
cults3d
These are some initial designs for an Archimedes Screw that can lift a marble from the very bottom all the way to the top. It has undergone several transformations just to reach this point, and I can already envision many areas where it needs improvement as we move forward. I designed it with these geared motors in mind because they were what was available at the time. I'm also using 1/2" steel bearings. As you can see from the photo, the motor will slide into place sideways at the bottom where the rectangular opening is cut out, and the Archimedes Screw is brought down from the top. The screw has a hole at the bottom that's been measured to fit the motors listed above. I'll be posting new models as the design continues to evolve, but I wanted to put something up for now so everyone can see where we're starting from.
